Cohort 2 of Evelyn Lauder Fellows

Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing is Pleased to Welcome the First Cohort of Evelyn Lauder Fellows

The Evelyn Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Hunter College is committed to building a Nurse Practitioner workforce with specialized training working with underserved communities in New York City. The Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing is pleased to announce the second cohort of Lauder Fellows who are receiving comprehensive training to prepare graduates with the skills and expertise to provide primary care to patients of all ages with complex health needs.

Patricia Ayozie, DNP, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Patricia Ayozie received a Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2021, a Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2019, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 from Downstate Health Sciences University. Ayozie works at DOCGO Mobile Health Services in Brooklyn as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has had an almost 20-year career working with diverse patients. Her first experiences were at NYC Health + Hospitals Woodhull as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother-Baby, and Pediatric units. Later, she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Kirkwood Bodden, MS, NP | Cohort 2

Kirkwood Bodden, MS, NP | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Kirkwood Bodden is a Board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Bodden’s MS is from the Rutgers University School of Nursing. He is an advanced practice nurse at The Lennard Clinic and a Nephrology Nurse Practitioner at the Essex Kidney Group and University Hospital in Newark, NJ.

Kyeong Chang, MS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Kyeong Chang received an MS degree from Columbia University in 2020. Chang then worked at New York-Presbyterian Medical Center in Queens, administering COVID-19 vaccines and providing vaccine education to 20,000 hospital employees. Chang now works as a Labor and delivery nurse at New York-Presbyterian, assisting with deliveries and managing newborns’ care in the first two hours of life.

Selina Chin, BS, RN

Selina Chin, BS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Selina Chin graduated from the Hunter College School of Nursing; she received her BS in 2019. She first worked at The Grand Healthcare Rehabilitation and Nursing as the RN Charge Nurse. She later became a telemetry RN for the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in its stroke-specialization unit. Chin has been a mentor in the Queens County Community College Nursing Peer Mentorship program since 2018.

Akilah David, MS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Akilah David received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Pennsylvania in 2004 and an MA degree in Nursing from Downstate Health Sciences University in 2014. Akilah’s almost 20-year career has been with Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. As a Registered Nurse, she has experience in Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care, Psychiatry, COVID-19 units, ERs, Respiratory care, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Surgical Units. Her patients at MMC are tremendously varied socio-economically.

Francis Miller, BS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

Francis Miller earned a BS degree at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 2016. Since then, Miller has been a Registered Nurse at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she has worked in the Surgical Intensive Care, Neurosurgery, and Post-Anesthesia Care units.

Natalia Ibarra, MS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Natalia Ibarra is a Registered Nurse with experience in emergency, psychiatric, pediatric, orthopedic, and medical/surgical units in inpatient hospital settings. She earned her MS from Columbia University in 2019. Ibarra has worked at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and Northwell Health Lenox Hill Hospital. Ibarra has worked with young and old alike in underserved communities.

Lisa George, MS, NP

Lisa George, MS, NP | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Lisa George received her MS degree from Pace University in 2017. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with primary care and critical care experience. She works at Bellevue Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner in the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

Winny Im, BS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Winny Im’s BS degree is from Case Western Reserve University. Since 2019, she has worked as a Registered Nurse at the University of California-San Francisco’s Neuro-Intensive Care Unit. At UC San Francisco, I provided direct care for stroke patients with critical neurological disorders and spinal cord injuries.

Sabrina Johnson, RN, BS

Sabrina Johnson, RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

After graduating from Molloy College with a Nursing degree in 2019, Sabrina Johnson joined the COVID-19 front lines. She saw firsthand the disparity in outcomes in different communities. Before becoming a nurse, Johnson worked as a teacher’s assistant at the Cambria Heights After School Program. She’s now a Registered Nurse at NYU Langone Brooklyn Medical Arts Pavilion with the Critical Care/Float Emergency Department, managing sedated and ventilated patients and caring for Level One trauma patients.

Sarah Jordan, BS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Sarah Jordan received her BS degree from New York University in 2017. She is a registered Nurse Clinician proficient in patients’ and colleagues’ medical, professional, and personal needs. Jordan has worked at NYU Langone Medical Center since 2019 in the Oncology, Hematology, and Pulmonology departments, focusing on acute and critical care. She is studying to improve and expand her Spanish language skills to communicate more effectively with her patients and their families.

Anna Kalnaya, NP, MS

Anna Kalnaya, NP, MS | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Anna Kalnaya received her AAS in Nursing from Borough of Manhattan Community College in 2013 and her BS and MS in Nursing in 2015 and 2019 from the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. She has worked for almost a decade as a Nurse Practitioner in Manhattan and Brooklyn, starting at First Choice Home Care and then moving to the Shoreview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She works in the Medical-Surgical and Acute Rehabilitation units at New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

Jane Lee RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Jane Lee was a Golden Key International Honor Society Award recipient and completed her Bachelor of Science Nursing degree at New York University in January 2017. Working at Long Island Community Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Operating room, Lee screened patients for psychological readiness, reviewed consents, and assisted anesthesia with intubations. Lee will work part-time as she completes her M.S. in the Adult-Gerontology Program.

Mandy Lee, RN, BS

Mandy Lee, RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Lee is a member of the American Nurses Association and graduated from the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing on our Dean’s List in May 2015. Since graduating, she has worked as a Registered Nurse at NYU Langone Medical Center, first in the Medical-Surgical/Observational Unit and now in the PACU or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, providing Phase One and Phase Two care for post-operative patients.

Huan Li, MS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Huan Li received their BS and MS from Downstate Health Sciences University. They bring over nine years of nursing experience in health assessment, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and documenting diverse EHR systems. Li works at NYC Health + Hospitals in Queens in the Radiology, Cardiology, Cardiac Rehab, Stress test lab, and Endoscopy departments.

Yuxin Lu, RN, BS

Yuxin Lu, RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

Yu Xin Lu received a BSN from New York University in 2019. She also earned a BS in Health Science in 2015 from Stony Brook University and, as an undergraduate, volunteered in the Emergency Department at New York-Presbyterian Queens. There, she decided she wanted to become a nurse after helping a family struggling to communicate with hospital staff because of a language barrier. Lu is now a Nurse Care Manager with the Center Plan for Healthy Living in Flushing. She’s a Chinese American Nurses Association member, bilingual in Mandarin and English, and has obtained a Commission for Case Manager Certification.

Katherine Cordero Patino, BS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult Gerontology NP

Katherine Cordero Patino received her BS in Nursing, magna cum laude, from Utica College in 2019. She first worked for NYC Health + Hospitals to provide COVID-19 testing and information to underserved communities. More recently, Cordero Patino has been employed at Northwell Health Lenox Hill Hospital, where she worked as a registered nurse in the surgical intensive care unit.

Kateryna Reyzin, RN, BS

Kateryna Reyzin, RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

Kateryna Reyzin graduated cum laude with a 4.0 GPA from Georgia Southern University in Savannah, where she earned her Accelerated B.S. in Nursing degree in 2018. She also volunteered at the Memorial University Medical Center in the Department of Vital Records and Mount Sinai Hospital in the CARE (Care and Respect for Elders in Emergencies) Department. A Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing member, Reyzin is fluent in Russian, German, Ukrainian, and English. She now works for New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in the Emergency Department, triaging incoming patients and assisting staff. Reyzin was also a COVID-19 first responder and closely monitored patients for respiratory distress.

Oliver Scarlett, RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

Oliver Scarlett received a B.S. from the Hunter College School of Nursing, earning the Excellence in Community Leadership Award. He has worked as a Registered Nurse at New York-Presbyterian Queens. His passion for providing quality healthcare to under-resourced populations goes back to his childhood on the island of Jamaica, where he experienced health inequity as an allergy patient.

Tehila Schwartz, RN, BS

Tehila Schwartz, RN, BS | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

Tehila Schwartz is a 2021 graduate of NYU’s College of Nursing and a 2023 DAISY Award recipient. She volunteered as an undergraduate at Tomchei Shabbos, a community food bank in Queens; Chai Lifeline, a children’s health-support network in Manhattan; and Camp Simcha Special, an overnight summer camp for adolescents with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Schwartz is also a wife and new mother and works as a Registered Nurse at NYU Langone Medical Center.

Shaun Sorley, NP, MS | Cohort 2

Program: Psychiatric Mental Health NP

Shaun Sorley is an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner at AHRC NYC, serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He provides primary care services and ongoing medical management for patients with complex health histories, bringing more than 15 years of nursing and healthcare experience.

Darlene Tenoyo, BS, RN | Cohort 2

Program: Adult-Gerontology NP

Darlene Tenoyo received her B.S. degree in Nursing, magna cum laude, from Stony Brook University. She works as a Registered Nurse at New York-Presbyterian Queens. In addition to working with the Medical, Surgical, and Orthopedic units, Tenoyo is the co-chair of the Nursing Pharmacy Committee and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Having moved to America at age 17, Tenoyo attended college full-time while working full-time.
